Two connections with retired chef and restaurateur, Knut Apitz, featured into the community fund-raising efforts in 2014: Blues Egg restaurant named the WPA as its September Egg Plate, donating $1 for every Egg Plate Special ordered that month (BTW, Blues Egg is an acronym for Breakfast Lunch in an Urban Environment with Everyones Good Graces ... which helps to explain its philanthropic bent!). Chef Joseph Muench worked for Chef Knut Apitz at the renowned Grenadiers. Pastiche Bistro and Wine Bar is charging $2 to each menu deviation, ensuring that customers are happy with their personalized selections of meals and creating an awareness of how special orders affect kitchen flow. Chef Michael Engel selected the WPA to be the recipient of the surcharge as his friend and mentor, Knut Apitz, is a member of the WPAs board of directors. Two more creative ways of supporting those who live with Parkinsons! Thank you for helping us to help others.
