Two games was possible in the SVGFF/Hairoun Beer national club championship and the remainder postponed because of the rainy weather that we were experiencing throughout the day. At Sion Hill Playing Field BESCO Pastures(4) finally got on the points table with a hard fought win over Richmond Hill (3). Scoring for Pastures was National U23 player ChavellMonkey Cunningham (2), Jomo Topping (1) and Chesley Miller (1) and for Richmond Hill Justin Lee (2) and Somari Webb (1). The final game of the day saw the very impressive unbeaten Camdonia Chelsea squaring off against the youthful Layou FC coached by Wade Jackson. The Layou team started very briskly by hustling the Chelsea team in midfield in the first twenty minutes of play but it was Chelsea who scored first with a built up play down the right and was finished by Jua Charles in the 26 minute. As a result, Chelsea used their experience by stroking the ball calmly around until the half but the Layou team was still trying to unlock the solid defense. In the second half the Layou team came out blazing with all of their attack going through the skillful diminutive #21 Sherwin Miller certainly a class act and to be watch closely for the future. The coach of Chelsea started to ring the changes as the game went back and forth without any clear cut opportunities. Layou was rewarded a justifiable penalty in the 83 minute of play when the impressive man of the match #21 Sherwin Miller went on a solo run evaded 2 Chelsea defender before the third defender carelessly kick him just inside the penalty area. Another young impressive defender Kendol Douglas wearing the number #20 shirt step up confidently and sent the Chelsea goal keeper in the wrong direction to make it one all. After that both teams had a chance each to win the game it remained a draw at the final whistle. Must say the talking point of the match was the Layou team without any of their senior national players who decide to play with the top clubs from the Kingstown district. They certainly looks like they will cause a lot of upset if they continue to play the way they played tonight. Finally Team SVG playing Infront of a large and appreciate Vincentian/Tortolans crowd demolish their opponent BVI in a friendly 6 goals to 0. SVG got on the score sheet in the 13th, 25th, 35th and 42nd minute of play through; Azinho Zinhno Solomon(2), Myron Left Eye Samuel, and Emerald Monkey to go into halftime in a commanding lead. However, the second half saw Team SVG making changes and scored in the 55 and 70th minute of play through Kyle Edwards and All time leading National Striker Shandel Bound to Score Samuel. The team will return to the state tomorrow Monday 22nd September, 2014 where they will camp at the goal project at Brighton until they depart on Monday 6th October, 2014 for Guadeloupe to take part in the semi final leg against the host Guadeloupe , Martinique and Curacao for a place in the finals to be held in Jamaica later in October.
