Two of our families met their baby boys on Tuesday! One mama was in early labor at her prenatal visit Monday and went home to wait for active labor. Later that evening she came into the birth center and soon began working hard with contractions. She was beautifully supported by lots of family and friends. Tuesday morning we hoped to soon be meeting her baby boy. Unfortunately, his position was keeping him from coming out, despite his mamas strong pushing efforts. The decision to transfer was made. Once at the hospital, an OB/GYN doctor was able to help this baby get in a better position and he then quickly arrived! The other baby boy popped his pool early Monday morning. After some rest, time, and castor oil, labor got going Monday evening. His mama worked beautifully with labor, supported by her husband and friend. Unfortunately, this little guys position was also keeping him from coming on out. We decided to transfer to the hospital to see if some interventions there would help. After some hours there, baby boy was showing signs of distress and needed to arrive sooner rather than later and was born by cesarean section Tuesday morning. We are so proud of these moms and families who worked so beautifully with the hard work of labor and moved forward even when their plans changed. We are also very grateful for the staff at MPH who helped these baby boys meet their families safely.
