Two people have been charged following an incident at a convenience store in west Pennant Hills at the weekend. About 3am on Sunday 26 October, 2014, three males entered a store on Pennant Hills Road and approached the 23-year-old male attendant. It’s alleged the three men harassed, intimidated and racially vilified the employee, who is of Indian background. The males left the store and the matter was then reported to police. Officers from Ryde Local Area Command attended the store and reviewed the incident on CCTV. An investigation was commenced resulting in the arrest of two teenagers late yesterday. Officers attended a home on Tomah Place, Westleigh, about 5.50pm (Monday 27 October, 2014) where they arrested an 18-year-old man. He was taken to Hornsby Police Station where he was charged with affray, intimidation, and serious racial vilification. He was given bail, and will appear in North Sydney Local Court on 18 November, 2014. A 17-year-old man was arrested shortly after 9pm (Monday 27 October, 2014) at his home on paling Street, Thornleigh. He was taken to Hornsby Police Station where he was charged with affray and serious racial vilification. He was given bail, and will appear in Bidura Local Court on November 18, 2014. Investigations into the third man are continuing.
