Two years ago today Louie was diagnosed with SMARD, he was only 10 months old and had already been in intensive care for around 8 weeks and doctors had been unable to remove hes ventilation. Half of hes diaphragm had paralysed and that meant Louie could no longer breath for himself anymore. We were told to take him to a hospice and spend a few days with him and let him go, as you no we didnt take there advise and after months of fighting Louie came home to us. Im so glad we didnt listen because he wouldnt be with us today, we wouldnt of got to see him grow up to love watching hes dvds, to have met his little brother, to have the opportunity to use an eyegaze. As Ive said before its not always easy looking after Louie but the good out weighs the bad and its nothing to do with Louie, its because of hospital appointments, getting him equipment and when we get no cover at night for him etc that is what makes things hard but as time has gone on some things have got better and I hope it continues to improve.
