Two young men came to the ECUA board meeting yesterday in objection to proposed rate hikes and board members explained there are many reasons for rate hikes like inflation, health costs for employees, reparation of an inherited aged infrastructure but one other cost that is ever growing is REGULATION! We have a new law as of July 1 - we have two years to put back flow preventers on everyones line that has irrigation. This will be costly. We will be working with Legislators to repeal this law but if not within two years if you have irrigation line you will require a backflow preventer AND we will also have to inspect them every 2 years! All of this regulation costs you the rate payer money! Even if we fight unnecessary regulation it cost our rate payers. Vet your legislators and tell them you want LESS Government Regulation!
