U.S. authorities ruled today that a shooting at Navy installations in the capital that left 13 people dead, including the attacker, and at least a dozen injured, is an act of terrorism. "We have no reason to stop suspect that this is terrorism," said the mayor of the city of Washington DC, Vincent Gray, who described the tragedy as one of the worst I have lived in the capital, with the exception of September 11 attacks 2001. At a press conference, Gray announced that one of the two men who were wanted by police in connection with the events was cleared of all suspicion. He said one of those killed in the attack on the premises of the Navy died in a local hospital shortly after his transfer. He said the identities of the victims will be released once his family has been notified. For his part, the head of the Metropolitan police, Cathy Lanier, said authorities are still searching for another person related to the events that occurred in one of the largest military complexes of the capital. In the same press conference, Valerie Parleb, spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), confirmed the identity of the dead gunman as Aaron Alexis, 34 years old and a native of Fort Worth, Texas. Deposit facilities, where they work about three thousand people, house the Naval Systems Command (NAVSEA), which is responsible for the overall logistics operation of the fleet of the U.S. Navy.
