UEFA Europa League Final RESULT Sevilla 0-0 Benfica (0-0 AET, Sevilla wins 4-2 on penalties) Sevilla heaped heartache on Benfica today, winning the UEFA Europa League final 4-2 after a penalty shootout. Two hours of open play was not enough to separate the two sides, and the scores remained locked at 0-0 after 90 minutes and then extra-time. Benfica, the Portuguese champion, looked the most likely to win before the shootout, but spurned several opportunities to score. Óscar Cardozo and Rodrigo failed to score their penalties for Benfica, and despite Sevilla keeper Beto coming forward well off his line to save Cardozos kick, the officials ruled in his favour, putting Benfica on the back foot. Coke scored his penalty for Sevilla before Rodrigo failed to beat Beto, and while Luisão got things back on track for the Portuguese, Kevin Gameiro scored Sevilles fourth and decisive penalty to win it, sending his side into wild celebration at the Juventus Stadium in Turin.
