UKS hosted the 1st ever Kart School Australia South Sydney round - TopicsExpress

UKS hosted the 1st ever Kart School Australia South Sydney round last night. With 15 students representing 5 schools in a 1hr endurance race. It was a tough battle for pole position with St Benedicts Oran Park getting the job done from Elderslie High and Camden high. In the race St Benedict started in good form with well known karting star Chris Sandrone with Cameron Crick (son of the late and great Rodney Crick) doing a stellar job to hang on to Chris for the entire 1st stint. Once the 1st round of stops were done it was Elderslie that really started to shine with Damien Xuereb pulling a big gap on the field by the time the 2nd stops came in. It was then Kaitlin Hickey from Elderslie started her stint and from here it became clear that Elderslie were the team to beat, with all 3 drivers lapping consistently in the 28s. Camden High and Blayney High battled hard for the minor placings while St Benedicts showed glimpses of hope as Chris Sandrone set the fastest lap of the race while trying to catch the leaders, a 28.38 is a super fast time. In the end it was Elderslie bringing home a dominant victory, winning by 4 laps! Blayney came through for an impressive 2nd, while Camden held on to 3rd. St Benedicts and Glenmore Park making up 4th and 5th respectively. Thanks to Kart School Australia for organising the event, we hope this is the start of a great series that will continue to grow every year.
