UNRWA is seeking to employ a qualified: Loan Officer at Microfinance Department for all areas Vacancy Announcement Number MD/09/2013 Contract Status Fixed Term Appointment with one year probation Contract Duration 1 year Contract (extendable) Grade 09 Benefits Monthly Salary JD 564 & 600 fils; other benefits include Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency), medical insurance and 30 days of annual leave. Department Microfinance Department Duty Station Jordan Field Deadline for Applications 31 December 2013 Place in the Organisation The incumbent is responsible to the Area Loan Supervisor. FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures the incumbent: (A) Visits designated local market places and industrial areas to promote and retail credit to micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses to promote business development by financing working capital and investment opportunities. (B) Visits workplace and households to retail consumer and housing loans to low-income households to finance household assets and home improvement; (C) Assists in initial screening of prospective borrowers, including visiting the business, completing the loan applications, analyzing the loan request and recommending disbursement; (D) Through individual marketing and promotion channels, ensures financing new and repeated loans to increase the size of the portfolio; (E) Monitors an adequate healthy caseload of active borrowers; (F) Follows-up on payments of performing portfolio to ensue adequate repayment rate; (G) Follows-up on payments of bad portfolio to reduce its volume; (H) Performs such other duties as may be assigned. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a two-year post secondary course in accountancy, business, marketing or other related commercial discipline. At least three years of experience in sales, marketing or banking Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic. Desirable Qualifications A university degree in business administration, accountancy or economics is preferred. Competencies Ability to work within a team Effective interpersonal, communication and marketing skills; Customer focus with commercial judgment; Familiarity with the local market needs; Problem solving abilities; Ability to cope with change and pressure. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS A university degree in business administration, accountancy or economics is preferred. EQUIVALENCY When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of UNRWA Operations may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience. NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
