UPDATE: Because of your support for Buck and Bill, Karen was allowed to see them at Animal Services. However, Manatee County administrators are now claiming that they fear that someone is trying to steal the dogs away, and they have refused to allow the dogs access to the kennel run - instead they keep them in the small cage inside. Their treatment just goes from bad to worse with every call we make to keep these two boys SAFE! And worst of all, Karen was told by an Animal Services Officer that the only reason they refuse to allow Buck and Bill to go to a safe third party kennel is because the County doesnt have a contract with any other kennels. How hard can it be to write up a quick contract? Is that worth the mange, the bleeding sores, the untreated tumors, the complete lack of exercise, and the enormous stress of the shelter? The criminal complaints that Karen have filed have been swept under the rug, clearly any harm to animals by Animal Services will go unpunished. Why dont we trust Manatee County to do whats right? Because of what we have seen. Because we know about the two animals that cooked to death - abandoned inside an animal services truck over the weekend. We know about the dogs and cats left to die without vet care. We have the photos and the proof that no employee is held liable under the same criminal laws that we are as citizens. What punishment do they get? They just get fired, while everyone else gets arrested and fined as it should be. Yes, a 13 year old boy was injured when he ran from Buck and Bill - he suffered through seven stitches and days of healing. But within days he was hiking with his family. His family who once said, forgive and forget. For eleven months two dogs have been neglected and left to rot - while the County blames Karen for their wounds. The County blames a woman who merely seeks to have the FIRST dangerous dog hearing permitted under Florida Statute, and not to be accused of admitting that her own dogs are dangerous when she did not. These dogs are not dangerous, they are not aggressive. They were behavior tested this past week by Dr. Vargas, and he found them to be sweet and loving dogs. We will continue our efforts to fight the County, and expose their misinformation for what it is, a sad attempt to cover up the fact that they made a mistake.
