UPDATE: Hank had his vet appointment today. So first of all, to settle the argument of what kind of dog he is (drum roll please....) Those of you who said German Shorthair Pointer WIN! He is over 10 years old. He now weights 66 pounds and what he really needs is muscle mass more than weight (and the vet said that may not be possible at his advanced age). He has a mild heart murmur due to advanced periodontal disease. He has hardly any teeth due to age and being malnourished for so long. The flea infestation he had when I got him left him slightly anemic and we are watching that. His kidneys are good but his liver test was elevated - which is not unusual for his condition and age. He was wormed and will go back in 2 weeks to see if the anemia improves. Until that happens, no surgeries of any kind (teeth or neuter). Over all good news considering his age and where he was a month ago. As we were leaving, all the people in the waiting room said...hey is that the dog they found in the dumpster?? Hes looking good! :)
