UPDATE January 21, 2014 Snow began just before noon today - TopicsExpress

UPDATE January 21, 2014 Snow began just before noon today and as of 6:00 pm on average Talbot County has received 2.5 to 3 inches of snow. Temperatures have dropped to below freezing and will continue to drop to the low teens with wind chills below freezing. Snowfall is expected to taper by midnight reportedly bringing an additional 3-5 inches. As far as road conditions, state highways are passable however they vary from snow and slush covered to wet. County roads are snow and slush covered generally. It is fair to say all roads are hazardous and with dropping temperatures may become frozen… Road crews are busy working and we ask that people remain off the roadways to allow them the opportunity to clear them the best they can. Throughout the day we have had a small number of vehicle accidents due to hazardous road conditions. We have no reported power outages and otherwise it appear people have headed the warnings and remained indoors and off roadways. We have been notified that Talbot County Schools have been closed for tomorrow. As we turn to the morning we want to stress the importance of taking precautions for what will be extremely slippery conditions on walking surfaces as well as roads.
