UPDATE, OLORROPIL GRACE CHILDRENS CENTRE: * Home matron and social worker have been hired and the GCC office is about half way completed * Chain link fencing is up and the gate has arrived! * Workers quarters under construction; will be completed by 1st December * A second vehicle-load of smaller outfitting items - blankets, sheets, towels, clothing, mosquito nets, all office supplies, 2015 school supplies - will be delivered next week * All large furniture items - beds for kids, mattresses, duty room beds and tables, dining hall tables, cooker, desks, chairs, jericans/milk can/larger cooking items, guard shed, etc... to be loaded in Nairobi and shipped by lorry on 1st December * Wheelbarrow (for hauling water from the borehole) and childrens storage trunks, being assembled locally, will also be delivered on or before 1st December * Monday, 1st December: CMIA Directors and Deputy Directors, along with the new home matron, volunteers from Langata COTR, Pastor Zeph and Eva, and local help will work like mad to get beds assembled, office/dining hall/kitchen set up, and everything in its place * Tuesday, 2nd December: Screening of children begins. We expect to meet and assemble case histories on both orphaned Masai children as well as girls fleeing FGM and early marriage that day. * And so we begin!
