UPDATE ON BEN: Bens treatment strategy has been moved into the hands of hospice. The focus is more on comfort, pain management, and quality of his remaining time. The result has been great, and he is having some of his better days since his diagnosis back in December. It would not be accurate to say that hope has been laid to rest. However, the treatment regimen my brother endured since January came with significant suffering and poor quality of life. He wasnt well enough to get out of bed on most days. Thats no way to live, no matter how long. So we are very thankful to have hospice involved and to see the real Ben - even if its in short bursts - enjoy his children, ride his motorcycle **cringe** and share beautiful moments with people he loves. As Ben, continues to battle his cancer, and their income to expense deficit grows, this occurred to me: If each one of my Facebook connections would give $10, the total amount would pay their rent for a few months, provide all the kids back to school needs, and possibly pay for the family to come to Cleveland one last time for the fundraiser we are planning to hold on 8/23. A small $10 donation, from enough of you, would make a very big difference in the lives of some very beautiful people who have been struggling in a way no one should. So many have done so much, and our family will always remember the love and kindness shown. But this battle has lasted much longer than we were given reason to expect. Of course were thankful for every day Ben is still with us. But the reality is, every day sees ongoing expenses and diminished income. Its a cruel reality. If you can help, please do.
