UPDATE : So today we apply the new finish to Jack Kings Bench early in the morning about 8 am I wanted to do his bench first so it would be dry by the time he walked the boardwalk with his caregiver. As I knew he would want to sit on it. We worked and never saw him , so we took a break ate lunch and I figured he would be coming by at lunchtime, but we NEVER saw him. And HIS bench was complete and beautiful and dry enough for him to sit on it for 30-40 minutes like he has done for the past 20 plus years. W were kind of bummed but went back to work , wouldnt you know it as soon as we started working again here he came shuffling down the plank boardwalk at Main Beach. I stopped went over and said Jack we have been waiting for you , your bench is done come and check it out He said Thanks Dave , it is Dave right ? Oh its Jim I remember thanks buddy for cleaning up the bench come to find out Jack has lived in Laguna Beach for 68 years and worked at the local Boussards drug store from 1950-1990 40 plus years . He said he knew by first name every person in the town up until the late 60s partly because it got crowded and dammit i just started forgetting he also told me he knew every wealthy , famous on infamous person who lived in Laguna personally. I asked him why he liked that particular spot he said I can sit here and look at all the pretty girls And man his face lit up saying this !!! I told him a lot of people really liked his photo, I told him I put it on Facebook He said what I am in a book? I laughed at that .... ...I am not sure he grasped the whole social media thing even though I tried to explain it to him. I asked him if I could get another photo and he was happy to pose again on HIS BENCH....I plan on getting a few prints made for him....
