UPDATE: The Special Investigations Unit is looking into the circumstances of a fatal vehicle collision in Port Hope last night. Just before midnight police officers attempted to stop a vehicle. The driver did not stop and proceeded west bound on Lakeshore Road. As it approached Shortt Street, the vehicle left the road and struck a tree, it rolled over and came to rest on its roof. The driver was taken to Northumberland Hills Hospital by ambulance and later succumbed to his injuries. The SIU has assigned 6 investigators, to probe the circumstances surrounding the collision. Police advise Lakeshore Road at Ridout should be opened shortly.
