There is a special Dane named Diesel that is in need of rescue. He first came into our facility with another Dane in September, weighing only 115 pounds (the other weighed 99 pounds). They were owner turn-ins. You may recall a rescue plea for them at that time. Well, a very nice family ended up adopting the both of them. Diesel now weighs 150 pounds, while his “brother” now weighs 160 pounds. The new owners love him but have run into some problems. He has attacked their Boxer twice now, and the last time was pretty bad. He’s fine with their Dachshund and the other Dane, though. He’s also untrustworthy around kids and new people. They have a 6 year old in the household, and 3 and 4 year olds that are frequently over. He’s just uneasy around lots of noise and sudden movements, in general. Hes approximately 6 years old, neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccinations, including rabies, and he’s heartworm negative. He’s an inside dog that loves to lay on the couch or sit next to you. Hes house trained and uses a big doggie door, or he will hold it and let you know when he needs to go outside. Hes also crate trained, but hes good all day roaming free throughout the house. He doesnt chew up things, he loves to play ball, and carry a stuffed animal around the house for hours. He loves racquet balls, soccer balls, footballs, plastic milk jugs, plastic soda bottles. He doesnt jump up on you, not even if invited. He sits, shakes and lays down on command. He’s a great dog but needs to be in a household with no dogs or children.
