Ummmmm not that Sri Lankan women really have this freedom either. You find all the men driving cars, vans, buses and whatnot honking at you incessantly all along the roads just because you are a woman, men driving big vehicles trying to hit your small car just because you are a woman driving a small car, directors in charge of parking in your office deciding to vent out every frustration in their sordid lives on you just because you are a woman parking in the premises under his control, your miserly male collagues who leave their cars behind and take the bus to work spreading stories about how poor your driving is, and last bus not least, all the crazy female colleagues who get a car loan and buy their husbands a car and yet too chicken to drive it croaking and croaking over the breakfast table......... freedom and human rights are not just rules of law........ unless they are ingrained to culture, they are as good as absent.
