Unfortunately we have to advise that we will not be hosting the 2014 UIM World Grand Prix Hydroplane Championship at Lake Karapiro in February. As per the UIM Rules to host a World Championship a minimum of three countries is required to date we only have commitment from Canada and New Zealand, therefore we have no choice but to relinquish this championship before the cancellation notification date with the UIM. The event at Lake Karapiro will still go ahead with several other feature races across all classes. It is also expected that the Canadian driver and boat will still attend this event we will keep you posted with updates on this. We look forward to hosting a round of the Blown Lite series at the second event at Lake Karapiro 15-16th March , this class of boat is vastly growing in Australia I was recently told buy a sponsor they are the next best thing to the Aussie V8 Super cars. Over the two events at Lake Karapiro we will also see, two rounds of the NZF1 Tour with the final round at the March event, North Island Championships for Pro-stock and Unlimited Unrestricted, AE Baker Australasian Hydroplane Championship, Des Geddes Memorial, Dennis Taylor King of the Lake both beach start races. Marsh Motor Sport Trophy– Modified Hydroplane Championship, Water Ski , Bath Tub racing and Thunder cats.
