“Union Jack” brings the 60′s to East Lonmeadow EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – The western Massachusetts-based British Invasion 60′s tribute band “Union Jack” played for a crowd of close to one thousand at the East Longmeadow Rotary concert series Wednesday night. Union Jack plays the songs of the Sixties, including the best of the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Gerry and the Pacemakers. Wednesday’s crowd featured first timers, as well as regulars who come every year. Rick Vester was doing some yard work nearby. “And I heard the band warming up to do their thing and heard one of the songs they were playing, and I go ‘hey! I know that song.’ And I said ‘Oh, yeah! Wednesday nights. The concert. East longmeadow!’ So I went,” Vester gushed. Lori Cooney comes Wednesday nights from Wilbraham for personal reasons. “We actually try and catch this band every year because we’re church members with the lead singer. And we’re familiar with his music, and just love the band,” said Cooney. “It’s a great night, great weather. Great music. My best friends. Family. Just a great night to be out.” 22News is one of the sponsors of the East Longmeadow Rotary Concert series. Sy Becker introduces the bands every Wednesday night during the Summer season. Next Wednesday night’s band: “The Diamond Collection.”
