Unpacking my library 1.6 Some of the letters I kept are from the great Leoncio Derriada, poetry editor of Homelife Magazine. For many years, Homelife was an avenue for many writers from the regions to get published in a magazine with a national circulation. I even got penpal letters and fanmails, mostly from high school students after my works started appearing in its poetry section. Writers from Bikol were regular contributors and winners of the annual poetry competition. A plaque or trophy with modest cash prizes are given to the winners in English and Filipino categories.
