Update from Jonnie on the National WWII Merrills Marauder - TopicsExpress

Update from Jonnie on the National WWII Merrills Marauder Day: Today I finished calling states that havent yet responded, and as of today, we have 33 that have issued - or have confirmed - that they will be sending out proclamations. Congratulations to all!! A few states dont issue proclamations, but have responded with their form of recognition. There are other states that are almost there, but until I get the confirmation, they dont get listed. I believe we will receive recognition from all the states. Many of you are pushing forward with the press package I sent out ... and being very creative. Here are some efforts you have shared with me - Im sure there are many others. Jerrie Daly has contacted AP in Washington,DC, and Minnesota media. Howard Yamaguchi has contacted Michigan media. On August 7, Howard, the family of the late Marauder Ted McLogan and possibly other MM or MMPD members will attend a special proclamation signing ceremony in Michigan GOV Rick Snyders office. CBI veteran Fred Sonnefield, 88, is contacting newspapers in North Dakota. COL Randy Watt in Utah is contacting papers. Bob Passaanisi will be reaching out to New York papers and some broadcast media. Carol Crawford will be sending out releases in Alabama. After Marauder GEN Sam Wilson agreed to some interviews, I set them up with Karl Monger, the Gallant Few, (will send link,) and Ft. Bennings Bayonet-Saber newspaper and possibly WETA Public Radio in Virginia and hopefully one other. Karl Monger arranged for National WW II Merrills Marauder Day to be covered July 30 by the national Vets on Media Radio Show. I sent packages to AP in Atlanta and have contacted AP in Nevada, where I used to work. I emailed the press package to more than 200 Georgia newspapers. I will be exploring other ideas. COL Randy Watt is sending out to Utah media, and retired Ranger Steve Mattoon and his wife Marilyn will be sending out to Wyoming this week. English author Gavin Mortimer will be doing a radio blog interview about the Marauders August 11 on Military Monday. We have only one week left to let our imaginations run wild. Sending the press package to just one media outlet can make a tremendous difference in this campaign. Take care - Jonnie these are committing so far: Alabama Arizona Arkansas Colorado Delaware Georgia Hawaii Idaho Iowa Kentucky Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Mississippi Missouri Montana - State does only a letter Nebraska Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma - provided a commendation South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Virginia Washington Wisconsin Wyoming
