Update on British Gas incompetence. Apparently they expected me to use 10 units in 3 months because thats what was used last year - thats when the house was empty! Surely there should be a check in the computer code that says 10 units in 3 months is much lower than 1800 in the previous quarter - maybe its an error. Alas no! The only error checking is when I try to input an actual reading and its too far away from their estimate that it doesnt register! The guy on the phone tried to tell me i had £230 to pay in 2 months instead of being £32 in credit! That was a short conversation beginning with You reduced my direct debit against my wishes based on your crappy estimate and followed by so if theres money outstanding at the end of the contract - go talk to your IT department and not me. and ended with and try getting someone who isnt straight out of primary school to code your systems in future. Complaint raised!
