Update on Harry! Well, things are looking somewhat positive for Harry. He continues to improve ... his fur is continuing to grow back, he is eating well, playful and becoming more chatty. He had a second opinion assessment on Wednesday with the lovely Dr. Sarah at BVH and here is what we found. She can pretty well rule out kidney disease which is a good thing ! His skin looks better and fur is growing back, but he does have a lot of scars, which wont be visible once his coat is regrown. This poor boy has been beaten up a fair bit while living on the street. His mouth is still in bad shape ( some teeth that need extracting and some ulcers). He does have a significant heart murmur but there is a possibility this is related to a taurine deficiency which may be corrected with proper diet and a supplement he is now being given. HIs previous diet may also be what is causing him to be chock a block full of waste in his intestine. This makes it difficult to examine his abdomen, and there is still concern about an abdominal mass. So ... the plan is to clean him out and reexamine ( possibly by ultrasound if required ) next weekend. Harry has beguiled another with his charm and Dr. Sarah is happy to allow him a little more time to get sorted out. A mass of course would be very bad news, but Houdini Harry seems to have escaped so many issues so far , we are hoping he has one more trick up his sleeve! His account is now in the red at BVH, and even with the best case scenario there is probably at least 1500 - 2000 more dirhams required to get him to the Handsome Harry stage.
