(Update provided 9am July 7, 2013) The Sûreté du Québec have advised the public that the Baie Comeau Road (Route 389) is open to motorists. ************** Meanwhile,the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary advises that vehicle escorts are continuing with the assistance of police and the Labrador Ground Search and Rescue volunteers along route 500 are continuing on a regular basis when it is safe to do so. Motorists are advised that the checkpoint remains at Route 500 intersection with Route 503 near Labrador City and Wabush and extends eastward along Route 500 to Ashuanipi. Delays should be anticipated, therefore, plan ahead and arrange accommodations in advance. Availability in Churchill Falls is limited. These measures remain in place for the safety of the public.
