Updated: Wada locked up in government house. The Kogi state governor Capt Idris Wada was reported to have been locked up in the Government House Lokoja apparently to shield him from the prowling eyes of the public. A government house source who intimated me yesterday reported that Wadas confinement is not unconnected with his mental illness on which his close aides had flown him twice in the last quarter of this year to the US for medical solution. The confinement according to the source is to enable the governor continue his treatment. It could be recalled that a chieftain of PDP Mr Emmanuel Abalaka had told an Abuja High court after Wadas nomination in 2012 that he (Wada) has a record of mental disorderliness from University College Hospital Ibadan. He told the court that Wada was admitted into the psychiatric unit of UCH on the 7th April 1976 with card no. 399346 on referral from Dr V O Anosike of Estate Clinic Group for schizophrenic illness and Wada was subsequently disgnosed of acute psychotic episodes and paranoid psychosis on 7/4/76 by Dr Oyewumi of UCH. Mr Abalaka went further and told the court that Wada was an undischarged psychiatric patient of University College Hospital Ibadan, that his father, Haleel Ejiga against medical advice, discontinued Wadas treatment in UCH facility and took him(Wada) out on the 28th of April 1976. Based on the above, he told the court that Wadas nomination as PDP governorship candidate is null, void and of no consequence. Also, before his(Wada) first trip to the US, it was widely reported that Wada was behaving strangely and even slapped his Chief of Staff before he was flown out. Before his second trip also, Wada was at the Eagle Square the venue of Goodluck Jonathans declaration and was seen clapping and laughing continously as reported by Daily Indepepndent Newspaper. Wadas media aide Jacob Edi has always denied that his boss was in and out the US on medicals. Edi was quoted recently as saying, “In pursuit of his dream for job creation and rapid economic development of his domain, Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, has travelled out of the country to keep an appointment with some foreign investors. A statement which many believed is not true. The state is presently in a comatose due to the governors absence as government activities has been halted. The stalmate of governance could be visibly seen as the Local Government workers are yet to be paid October salary. Recall that Wada has earlier stripped LG chairmen of power to pay workers salary. The Chief of Staff Government House is presently attending partially to government business.
