Any questions please contact Richard Cherchio at 702-325-6708 TIME: 6:00 P.M. (Main meeting room) NOTE: As always we welcome any suggestions of topics to discuss or requested speakers to attend at future meetings. THURSDAY MARCH 27, 2014 NOTE THE DATE CORRECTION FOR THE ALLIANCE MEETING ! NORTH LAS VEGAS ALLIANCE OF HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATIONS AND CONCERNED CITIZENS Many of you missed a very informative Town Hall meeting Tuesday evening, the 18th, with our 4th District Congressman Steven Horsford. He took time to visit one on one with those present and answer their questions. He also had brought some of his staff from Washington to work directly with the audience and resolve their individual problems. At this months meeting we have scheduled an appearance with Republican Candidate, Niger Innis, for the 4th Congressional District. In addition, we have asked Geoff Lawrence from the Nevada Policy Research Institute to give us a presentation on the “Margin Tax” which is going to be on the November ballot. This is a very controversial proposal and the decision will affect all of us. We expect several candidates to attend and spend some time telling us a little about their background and qualifications. We always have some updates provided by various city officials and interested community activities personnel and hopefully we have at least one city council person present to let us know what is pending or has taken place recently. Richard Cherchio will update us on the upcoming Nellis /Creech & Military Veterans Appreciation day set for Saturday May 17th at Craig Regional Park. Respectfully, Bob Mersereau President FEBRUARY MINUTES The North Las Vegas Alliance of HOAs and Concerned Citizens met last (Feb. 13th) with about 35 to 40 in attendance. A summary follows. Ms.Christie Linert (Citizens of Las Vegas United) spoke about the proposed gassification plant in North Las Vegas near the intersection of Losee and Lone Mountain. Her group is opposed to it as it is a possible source of noise, dust, pollution, and danger. The plant would take industrial waste and convert it to gas for electricity. The plant would be lit around the clock and trucks would be going in and out daily. It would use over 43,000 gallons of water daily. The Apex region would not work as an alternative as it lacks the water supply. The plant would also have four 65-foot tall stacks. No similar plant now exists. There will be a Town Hall Meeting on March 12th at 6pm held at Dickens DL Dusty Elementary School (5550 Milan Peak St., 89081) to address this project.
