VETERAN OF THE MONTH ARDINE A. PULSIFER PRIVATE FIRST CLASS Ardine was born in Buckfield, Maine on June 19,1927 to Kenneth and Verna Record Pulsifer. He had an older brother and has a younger sister. He grew up in West Sumner and worked on the family farm. Ardine enlisted into the Army on August 20,1945. He served in Korea during World War II. He was stationed at Fort McClellan for basic training. He was then deployed to Soule, Korea. While there, Ardine was in the Infantry Division and worked as a truck driver. He escorted many officers to different destinations in Korea. Ardine and one of his buddies, Roland Beaudoin enlisted together in the Army. They both shared the same birthdate and were stationed together in Korea. They also met up here at the Veterans Home. Ardine enjoyed driving the officers around Korea and making friends when he was in the service. He also had the opportunity to see the world. Ardine earned the rank PFC and earned the World War II Victory Medal as well as the Marksman Medal. Ardine was discharged on April 27, 1947. Ardine married Mary Millett in September 1945. They have 4 children, a son- Lloyd and 3 daughters- Kathy, Pamela and Terry. They have 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. After the service Ardine worked at A. C. Lawrence Leather in South Paris as a staker and scrubber for 30 years. Other jobs he had included Paris Manufacturing (sled factory), C. B. Cummings, Callahan Construction, as a truck driver, Poland Spring Bottling Co., Hannafords and The Progress Center. Ardine enjoys going to the coast, gardening, loves music and has been very active with the church. He also enjoys a variety of activities here at the Maine Veterans Home. Ardine resides on the C-Unit. Thank you Ardine for your service.
