VITAMINS FOR THE MIND by Ron Reynolds #3706 (Wednesday, December 17, 2014) Over the Horizon It’s only been a few days since the Distributors who earned the “Viva AdvoCare” trip to Costa Rica, Panama, and the Panama Canal returned to their homes with their memory bank filled with experiences that will last a lifetime. Charlie Ragus often spoke of ‘walking the beaches of the world’ and leaving AdvoCare footprints in the sands of hundreds of places around the world, and this trip was one of many that have happened and there are many more such experiences to follow. Here’s the great thing about AdvoCare incentive trips; they expose people to a new world of possibilities beyond the town, city, county, state and national boundaries in which they live. Some Distributors who have been part of one of the incentive trips had never before been outside of the state in which they were born, and many – perhaps even most – had never been outside of the United States. Some had never flown on an airplane before, or been exposed to a culture where another language other than English is spoken. Those kinds of ‘first experiences’ expose us to ideas and possibilities we’ve never known or felt before, because they force us to leave our self-created comfort zone and venture into a world of people and customs far beyond anything we’ve ever known before. Just trying to assimilate such experiences stretches our imagination and makes us think as we’ve never thought before as we process all those experiences we’ve never had before; all that does something to us and they do something for us, and that’s good. Someone once said “The human mind, once stretched by a new ambition, never returns to its original dimension or capacity.” New events, new words, new possibilities, new attempts and new challenges force us to grow and to think new thoughts about just how much we can grow, about just how much we can absorb, about how much more we can imagine our way into a new reality; that’s what can happen when you travel ‘over the horizon.’ After all, if we continue to do what we’ve always done, and feeling the way we’ve always felt, and being around the same people we’ve always been around, then how can we ever expect a different result? It takes new conversations with new people about new subjects to get us to begin thinking new thoughts that lead to new and better results. But there’s another element to the AdvoCare trips that are rather unique; when you earn one of our trips, you don’t come back to your home deeper in debt than you were before you left, because everything is paid for both you and your spouse – all of the transportation, the hotel accommodations, the meals so that you don’t come home to the reality of an even deeper amount of debt that makes all the great experiences fade when you see how much your trip has increased your total debt and the new ‘minimum payment due.’ Why not get serious about earning ‘the next trip’ so your own imagination gets stretched, which will stretch your self-confidence that leads to a better set of results? The views expressed on this post are those of Ron Reynolds and do not necessarily reflect the views of AdvoCare.
