Vale Anne Ansell, a Wanderers Cricket Club Life Member, a dedicated and devoted stalwart of the club who was respected and loved by all. It is with great sadness that we have learned that Anne passed away today following her battle with cancer. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family; Doug, Pete, Wendy, Joe & Darryl. Anne was an intrinsic part of the fabric of our club, a heart and soul member of the Mighty Woo Hoo’s. Her contribution and hard work for the club spanned many years as a committee member, secretary and in particular, as our cook extraordinaire. She ran ‘Annes Kitchen’ for many years, her meals enjoyed by all cricketers, their families, as well as the plethora of other people who visited the club. She was always in her kitchen on Friday and Saturday nights and was also the leader in catering for many club functions including, but not limited to; Christmas Parties, Pink Stumps Days, Presentation Nights and the Murray Bridge Show. If there was a function or a fundraising event for the club, invariably Anne was there putting in many hours to ensure we were all looked after and fed. It cannot go with out saying, one her great achievements was catering for some large events, in particular the Gembouree, where over a period of 6 nights during the Easter Long Weekend in 2013, she served over $5000 in meals. It should be noted Anne is well known across Australia for her catering efforts as we had many people coming back from the previous Gembouree from a few years earlier who remembered the food and hospitality of Anne and the club. Anne will be sadly missed by all associated with the club. Our memories of Anne will live in all our hearts forever. Rest in Peace Anne.
