Valley jolted by moderate earthquake :Moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit many parts Kashmir during the night, officials said. The tremor, which created panic among the residents in the valley, was recorded at 1:16 am, an official of the MET department while talking to Srinagar based news gathering agency GNS said. He however, said there was no report of any damage to property or injuries to any person. He said the epicenter of tremor was in the Kashmir China border. The frightened residents of valley said earthquake made them “scary for life.” “We were sleeping in our home, when earthquake occurred, we all rushed out to a safer place,” said a local resident, Mohd Ismaeel.
