Verse 3: Paul thanked God when he remembered the Philippians. Those people in ancient Macedonia who believed in Jesus as their Savior were a source of joy for Paul. They believed Paul’s simple message about how Jesus died for sin and rose again. This caused Paul to be grateful. We too should be happy when people believe in Jesus Christ. Today, movies and the media try to undermine Christianity at every chance. But the writer of most of the New Testament was happy when people participated in the gospel. Paul was happy and so was God! Verse 4: Paul asked of God on the behalf of the Philippians. When Paul prayed to God for them, he was always happy about what God would do. The outlook for the Philippians caused gladness to well up in Paul. He knew the next verses; that they would happen to believers. Let’s see why verses five and six made Paul so happy. Verse 5:
