Under the Heading, Executions, it details that some of the executed strangled over a period of time because standard drop method rope lengths were used instead of the long drop method which breaks an executeds neck. Some took between 14 and 28 minutes to choke to death. All were executed on 16 October 1946. There were several trials, but the first included the most criminal of the criminals. Twelve were given the death sentence and seven received prison sentences, and three were acquitted. At least 40 million perished in Europe, alone.
