Video of the week + month ! This Guantanamera version features over 75 Cuban musicians around the world, from Havana and Santiago to Miami, Barcelona and Tokyo. Playing For Change is a movement created to inspire, connect and bring peace to the world through music. In 2005, producer Mark Johnson created the concept of Songs Around The World by uniting together musicians from many different countries and cultures to perform on the same track. Mark and a small crew traveled across 5 continents with a mobile recording studio and cameras with the vision of building a global family through the power of music. The first song released was a version of “Stand By Me”, which features over 35 musicians from 10 countries who had never met in person and has now been viewed over 100 million times online. PFC has since released several albums, music videos, and a feature documentary film, “Peace Through Music”. The newest CD/DVD, Playing For Change volume 3: Songs Around The World, has just been released on June 17th, 2014. The success of the Songs Around The World inspired the PFC team to unite together many of the greatest musicians they had met throughout their journey to form the Playing For Change Band. The result is a unique fusion of influences and talents in constant evolution since the first concerts in 2008. These musicians come from different countries and cultures, but through music they speak the same language. In order to give back to the musicians and their communities who continue to share their passion and talent, the Playing For Change Foundation was created in 2007. The PFC Foundation is a separate nonprofit organization that develops music and art schools and programs for children around the world. playingforchange/episodes/?related_musician=11059.
