Villa to kick off Schools’ tour at Namilyango SC Villa has embarked on a Schools’ tour programme that will see the club visit various schools in a bid to tap fresh talent and a youthful fan base. The tour will kick off at Namilyango College on Sunday, October 12. Villa will play the Namilyango school team in a friendly match and give out jerseys to the Namilyango team. Villa President Ben Immanuel Misagga will be the chief guest. “We have decided to visit different schools to be able to get some talented players there. Most of us also started supporting Villa while still in school, so we want to regain that youthful fan base. The biggest percentage of the students is now more interested European football, so we want to bring them back,” said Misagga. Namilyango has produced a number of sportsmen in different disciplines. Mike Mutebi and Ahmed Ssenyange (soccer), Tom Kawere, Dr. Ntegge Ssengendo, Francis Nyangweso (boxing), Robert Sseguya, Brian Odongo, Joseph Aredo, Justin Kimono, Oscar Kalyango, Romano Ogwal (rugby), Moses Magogo (Fufa President), Lawrence Mulindwa (former Fufa President), Mark Namanya and Joseph Kabuleta (senior sports journalists) all went to Namilyango. The Secondary Schools’ tour traverse around the country until the end of the year and then the club will embark on tertiary institutions. Villa to launch SMS media platform At the same function, the club will also launch its sms media platform where fans will be receiving all information about SC Villa through their cellphones. This information will include the Villa news, injuries, fixtures, lineups, and normal interactions on the 6868 (sms empire) platform.
