Vitamin D May Not Provide Significant Health Benefit, Review Of Studies Says. USA Today (1/23, Painter) reports vitamin D supplements may not impart âsignificant benefits for heart health, cancer prevention or even bone health in healthy people,â citing a new review of previous studies from researchers in New Zealand. The report, unveiled today in the journal Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, âis the latest to questionâ the popularity of such supplements âand to suggest researchers should stop spending time and money trying to find out whether vitamins can prevent a host of chronic diseases.â The new study reviewed data from 40 previous studies, concentrating its attention only on vitamin D and âconcludes that âhealthy people are very unlikely to get a benefit from it.ââ
