Vodafone U20 Fiji Team: Committed and hopeful for a good outing in New Zealand (RUGBY HOUSE - SUVA) – 16 MAY 2014 – The Fiji Rugby Union today announced the final Vodafone under 20 Fiji team to the Junior Rugby World Cup (JWC) in New Zealand. The IRB Junior World Championship is an international rugby union competition. The event is organized by the sports governing body, the International Rugby Board (IRB), and is contested by 12 mens junior national teams with an under-20 age requirement. Speaking to local media at the naming ceremony today Assistant Coach Iliesa Tanivula said it’s always hard to drop players when you spend a couple of weeks with them and after you’ve bonded you have to finally name just 28 players. The boys have handled it well and the boys named have shown their class and are really committed to the course and we are hopeful of a good outing,” Tanivula told guests at the Naming Ceremony at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa. Dion Fraser JWC matches will be played in the Auckland region, at North Harbour Stadium and ECO Light Stadium in Pukekohe. The tournament starts in June and Fiji is pooled together with Wales, France, and Ireland. “For starters, we’ve sat down as a team and discussed the opposition, Wales, and we’ve had a look at the profiles of their players,” Tanivula said when asked about preparations. Vodafone Fiji’s Chief Marketing Officer Sanjeewa Parera wished the team the very best for the tournament and said it was a proud moment for Vodafone, for being associated with a National under-20 team and a naming event as such.
