WANTED! Someone to knock our first quiz winners off the top! The very first winners of the National Press Club’s Reigning Brain of emBARgo were crowned last week Friday, and the winning team is …………… (drum roll) ……………… IQ2000! Which consisted of our friendly secretariat Ben Rootman and Martin van Niekerk. We now need you, your friends or your colleagues to come and knock them off their royal thrones. Bring your friends and colleagues, whether they are press club members or not, and come and unite your brain power and boast your general knowledge. Get ready for FUN, FUN, FUN! Groups of friends or colleagues can consist of 1 to 4 people… you choose your group’s name, and from there you just wait for the questions and answer them. The winning group of the evening will get their name engraved on the wall of fame and will also get a special prize… you will have to attend to find out what it is. Quiz evenings are EVERY FRIDAY from 18:00 to 20:00… our friendly host, the Court Classique Hotel, has specially agreed to extend happy hour to 5 hours, and to spice up the menu with much more delicious cuisine to line the stomach! Which means you can come to emBARgo at 15:00 to “warm up” or “prepare” or “catch up on general knowledge” with a lovely cocktail in hand (or two, or three). At the time the quiz starts at 18:00 you’ll be cleverer than Albert Einstein … just be able to prove it please…! If you can recognise Madonna without her make-up, if you can name the Public Protector, if you can spell the name of Tshwane’s mayor correctly, if you know who wrote the Twilight Saga and who Winnie the Pooh’s donkey friend is… you could have been the current reigning brain. Don’t stress though - we’ll be back on Friday with a fresh bunch of questions. In short, be at emBARgo* on Friday from 15:00 till whenever… be ready with your team of ‘brainees’ for the quiz at 18:00… and be ready (or not) to be crowned as the Reigning Brain of emBARgo!
