WE MADE SOME NOISE, BUT THE DISTRICT STILL IS NOT - TopicsExpress

WE MADE SOME NOISE, BUT THE DISTRICT STILL IS NOT LISTENING About 400 members came out this afternoon to the District to let the District know that it is time to reach a fair settlement. But they still are not listening to us; they have not moved on something as important as salary. We will meet again on Friday, August 8, 2014. This may be the last opportunity before the effects of the conflict start to seriously disrupt student programs. Many of the teacher coaches who regularly volunteer their time for free are declining to participate in the sports leagues until we reach an agreement. One school has already withdrawn the many voluntary after school programs that they operate on their own time without pay. If the District will not listen to us, perhaps they will listen to you. Please write the Board members and Superintendent and let them know that you are not happy and want a settlement: lecunningham@gmail (Larry Cunningham) [email protected] (Glendora Tremper) marissabejarano@gmail (Marissa Bejarano) dougluff@gmail (Douglas Luffborough) [email protected] (Pamela Smith) [email protected] (Superintendent) Sample Letter: Dear Board Members and Superintendent, I write to you to express my dissatisfaction that you have not provided the support, respect, and compensation to make our teachers feel content in their work. I have reviewed their demands and find them reasonable. Teachers are the professionals that work directly with our children everyday; they must be the priority of the District so that that they continue to happily go above and beyond to support our students. Bonuses to highly paid district officials and salary increases to the Superintendent while teachers have received no salary increase in 7 years is not student-centered decision-making, and it is not the leadership that I expect. Please reach a settlement now with teachers so that our children do not have to pay the price for poor leadership. Sincerely, Name Thank you parents for your support. You and your children are the reason teachers still love to teach. Sincerely, Manuel Yvellez CVE President Let Teachers Teach
