WEATHER WARNING FOR OUT CATCHMENT AREA Warnings 3:55 PM EST Monday 10 November 2014 Freezing rain warning in effect for: Greater Sudbury and vicinity Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring. At the moment an area of snow has moved into the Algoma Nickle Belt areas where 5 to 10 cm of snow are possible. As a warm front approaches the area the precipitation is expected to transition to freezing rain first near Sault Ste Marie during the evening hours and then expanding into Sudbury overnight and into Tuesday morning. The freezing rain could last as long as 2 to 6 hours in any given location. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur. Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
