More info: The NGO Crescendos Alliance has an immediate opening for a project coordinator/research assistant in Maras, Peru. The town, population 3,000, is located about an hour and half from Cuzco, in a fairly remote part of the Sacred Valley at 11,000ft. The position involves coordinating visiting volunteers assisting at the local medical clinic, helping with various on going research and social projects, as well as after school programs. The NGO has an apartment (although we use that word loosely) in Maras and we provide a $300-500 monthly stipend depending on length of commitment. 6 months or longer is preferred. Preferred requirements include at least basic Spanish, some medical background such as WFR, EMTs, medical students, etc and most importantly at great willingness to learn, interact with local populations and the ability to function outside your comfort zone.
