WHAT IS DFILMD Dfilmd is built with a vision to bring together all filmmakers at one place and receive genuine ratings and feedback to their films from the general public as well as fellow filmmakers. Being in short film industry ourselves, we know how much time, effort and money is spent in making a film, which only keeps increasing as we step up the ladder. And in many cases, even when the film is exceptional, it fails to reach out to a huge audience and does not receive the appreciation that it deserves. So we decided to build a platform which solves the problems of both filmmakers and movie buffs. Looking at the current short film making industry, we first tried to identify the reason why one creates a short film. Currently the only way one can reach out to an audience without spending any money on marketing is by uploading the video on youtube and sharing it over social media. Even if the film does gain popularity through social media, it is short lived and eventually reaches stagnation. Budget:In most cases short films generate very little revenue and a filmmaker has to really think twice about the finances before making a short film which involves a reasonable amount of expenses. Finding the right team:A successful short films requires a lot of artists who can be categorized under directors, cast, editors, writers, musicians, cinematographers etc. Even a gap in one of the segments can leave the film incomplete and fail to impress the audience. Gap between short film and feature film makers:Though the feature film makers are on the look for a talented artist, they fail to reach out to the right person due to the lack of a common platform of filmmakers. On the other hand, a short film maker finds it impossible to establish any kind of contact with a feature film maker without having the necessary referrals. Feedback:The only way short films currently receive feedback is by participating in short film festivals. Even there, a list of top 5 among a large group is announced leaving the rest clueless about where they stand. Hence, Dfimd was developed with the intention of helping filmmakers and the movie buffs with the problems they face. To solve the problem of reach, Dfilmd serves as a platform where a movie buff can easily identify and watch films based on his/her interest which can be based on top ratings, reviews, industry, genre etc. Dfilmd is a one stop shop for short films and movie buffs are given a clear segregation and recommendations to watch only what catches their interest. At this juncture Dfilmd does not solve the monetary problem faced by the filmmakers. However, we definitely help low budget films reach out to a mass audience and get the recognition they deserve.
