WILL WE VOTE FOR CHINATOWN OVER SOPHIES CHOICE? We wondered what it would mean when The Star-Ledger hired a gossip columnist, Claude Brodesser-Akner, to cover Christies presidential campaign and today we saw a little of it in what was supposed to be a side-by-side comparison of the presidential wannabes. But, instead of serious comparisons of opinions about taxes, economic growth, public employees, unemployment, public debt, pensions, the environment, criminal justice, the social safety net, shore protection, race relations, urban policy, immigration, insurance regulation, utilities, child welfare, womens rights and other important issues, we had, after some almost meaningless references(including a passing shot at common core), a bizarre comparison of musicians (Bruce Springsteen vs. Tom Petty), actors (Bruce Willis vs. Mickey Rourke), actresses (Meryl Streep vs. Faye Dunaway)--et ad nauseam, right up to fruits. Well, we certainly expect the election to hinge on whether more voters remember the words to Born to Run or Free Fallin. OMG. Eeew. Click.
