WINNERS +++ GLOBAL RECIPES CONTEST +++ First Place Winner: DIRCEUS BEEF (or chicken) STROGANOFF Dirceu Diniz, Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, Brazil Original recipe makes 8 servings 2 (2 pound) beef chuck roast, cut into 1/2-inch thick strips 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper 4 - 6 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil 1 large onion, diced 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 cup sliced mushrooms 1 1/3 cups water 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 2 tablespoons of soy sauce 1 can tomato paste 1/3 cup heavy cream Directions Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in the onion, garlic, and a pinch of salt. Cook and stir until the onion is soft and translucent. Stir in the beef (or chicken); cook and stir until browned, 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in the mushrooms. Cook and stir until the mushrooms are tender, about 10 minutes. Slowly stir in the water, soy sauce, and tomato paste. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, then reduce heat to medium low. Add Worcestershire sauce, heavy cream, Cover and simmer until the meat is tender. Season with salt and black pepper. Add additional cream as needed.....there should be a creamy gravy. Serve over rice and top with potato sticks.
