SALICYLATES Salicylates occur naturally in many fruits and vegetables, herbs and spices and are frequently used in artificial flavouring, perfumes, toothpaste and medications such as aspirin. Colourings such as tartrazine, erythrosine and sunset yellow are commonly used in commercial foods. Salicylates in plants act as a natural immune hormone and preservative, protecting the plants against diseases, insects, fungi and harmful bacteria. Salicylates problems on the skin represent themselves as a little rash under the corner of the mouth and can move around the mouth area even to the corner of the nose. There has been a huge noticed increase in concern about this strange appearance on the skin. People are trying to eat healthier not realising that fruit and vegetables may be the culprits. Should you notice this rash, it is best to work with your medical provider and/or a dietician. FROM DEBORAH’S DESK TRAVELLING? Lucky you!! I have a few tips that I hope will help you with that frustrating job of packing. 1. Mini facial pack skin care available from the EarthSentials range Earthsentials ‘Skin Fresh’ or ‘Be Fresh’ mini packs are the perfect product range for travelling, and these premixed products last for ages. Handy 50ml pumps of cleanser and toner teamed with a 30ml jar of moisturiser ensure you can freshen up at any time. ($33 pack) 2. Choose a colour theme for your clothes My suggestion would be: 3 neutral colours, like black, white and cream, teamed with 2 colours that you know you look great in and that match your skin tone My choice of colours would be coral and lime 3. Plan your outfits What will you be doing? Where will you be visiting? Pack items accordingly to ensure you have ‘outfits’ not just various random pieces. Which pieces can double up creating more ‘outfits’ and pack items that will multifunction. The easiest way to do this is to lay everything out on the bed. 4. Shoes and accessories Pack two necklaces which will change the look of an outfit or dress. Comfy walking shoes are a must, but also pack a pair of slide type sandals that go with everything, and heels if you know you will be needing chic for a few evening outings. Keep makeup to a minimum - a good lipstick, eye liner and mascara along with a foundation. Treat yourself to some new and comfy underwear for the trip – You will feel and look fabulous before, during and after your time away. Leave plenty of room for those inevitable must have purchases! Relax and enjoy - Bon Voyage I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment Deborah deborahwarburton 0407892069
