WORD Today 04/23/14 Acts 3:1-10 Lk 24:13-35 The glorified body of the Resurrected Lord was vastly superior to the human body of Jesus. He was still the same Jesus but looking different so that even His close friends did not recognize Him immediately. In todays Gospel, 2 disciples on the road to Emmaus did not recognize the Risen Lord as He walked with them. Finally their eyes were opened When he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. (Lk 24:30) They remembered the Institution of the Holy Eucharist during the Last Supper when He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and gave it to them, saying: This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. (Lk 22:19) At the Incarnation (birth of Jesus), the Word was made Flesh. The Eucharist is the continued enfleshment of the Word. Looking different, the Eucharist is the same Risen Lord. Alleluia!
