WORSHIP SONG for SATURDAY – Most of us have some level of drama, distress, disaster, discouragement and or depressing things going on in our lives at any given time. Different levels of course but nonetheless most of you reading this are dealing with stuff like this.....it’s called LIFE! It doesn’t always turn out the way we like or how we planned or hoped for because in real life, rarely do all things fall pleasantly into place. Even for the Follower of JESUS, the one who trusts in Almighty God by faith, there are always adjustments to make especially for us because we are walking with a God Who tells us, “My ways are not your ways!” So we deal with it! I like the transparency of the Apostle Paul, who God used to pen over two thirds of the New Testament. Read what he said about his life at a given point, a point mind you, in which he was fully surrendered to and serving God faithfully. ”We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus.” Sounds like Paul was having more than a bad hair day! He was in a fight for his very life and probably his sanity also! Have you ever been there? To a degree, we all have and we all will. Just part of being a broken soul living in a broken world with other broken souls functioning in world systems that are broken also. How can we live ON TOP of the circumstances and not under them? How can we THRIVE instead of just survive? I think Paul gives us some credible advice – “So we live in the face of death, but this has resulted in eternal life for you. But we continue to preach because... We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.” Paul found a refuge in the plan, the will and the arms of his Savior. Paul spent much time there even when his life was beyond chaotic and even when his mind and body were giving out. Paul knew where his strength came from....from the strong arms of the Lord, from the arms of the Savior. And if Paul found that, so can we....in the arms of the Savior.
