Walking through Sams Club this afternoon…I hear a boy (around 17 or 18 years old) telling his mother that he deserves to just get $100 from you every now and then because he is a good kid and stays out of trouble and his friend so and so gets money from her parents and she is always getting into trouble blah blah blah. His mother responds in an almost sobbing tone, with son, I do everything I can for you. Youre friend gets money because she has financial aid for school. His response: yelling at her…well i guess Im just gonna have to go out and start robbing people! I know he was young(ish) but definitely not too young to have a job. Where does that strong of a sense of self entitlement come from? Im 26 and a father now…but the 16 year old version of me still would have wanted to slap that kid. Shaking my head…some people.
