Warm reception on a cold night at the inter-faith Thanksgiving celebration. It was an honor to provide remarks and issue the following proclamation: Proclamation of the Town of Nassau Whereas, the Town of Nassau is blessed with bounty in terms of freedom, people of kindness and Yankee ingenuity; and Whereas, 2013 has been a year filled with bounty in the community gardens, home gardens and the farm fields of the beautiful countryside that makes the Town of Nassau a wonderful place to live and raise a family; and Whereas, as a community we have witnessed blessings exemplified in acts of kindness, donations to those less fortunate and those in urgent need; and Whereas, the Town of Nassau has been blessed for generations with brave men and women in our national armed forces and with those willing to provide emergency services and protection for our families, our homes and our community; and Whereas, as a community many endeavor to serve our youth, veterans and seniors and to act as partners demonstrating hard work, friendship, service, and dedication to the public good; and Whereas, as a nation, our Presidents have called upon a diverse people of faith and kindness to share a day of Thanksgiving to remember bounty, protection and certainly freedom; Now, Therefore Be It Proclaimed that I, David F. Fleming, Jr. by virtue of the authority vested in me as Supervisor of the Town of Nassau in the County of Rensselaer, State of New York, and further by the unanimous consent of the Town Board of the Town of Nassau, do hereby proclaim the twenty-eighth day of November 2013 a day of Thanksgiving in the Town of Nassau. And Be It Further Proclaimed that we encourage our residents to gather together to give thanks for the bounty and freedom provided to us and to search for ways to serve our neighbors in random acts of kindness and appreciation and thereby continuing our efforts to strive for better community, love of neighbor and a stronger town.
